YAKIMA, Wash. -- Monday was day two of the Edwin Nava trial, he's accused of kidnapping and raping a Yakima woman in May of 2009.

The alleged victim, a 22-year-old Yakima woman, was examined and cross examined, then after break several investigating officers and a trauma nurse took the stand.

Prosecutor Patti Powers worked to paint a scene for the jury, allowing the alleged victim to describe a kidnapping and rape that took place early morning on May 24th. Yakima police officer Kevin Cays, recalled interviewing the victim later that evening.

"She seemed embarrassed and upset and scared about the whole incident," said Cays.

He took a statement and had photos taken.

"Yes, she had some bruising on her neck," said Cays.

He then took the victim to Memorial Hospital to be examined. A trauma nurse recounted the victims story, describing the initial kidnapping.

"She then said that the passenger got out of the vehicle opened the sliding door and had the patient get in....she said that they drove out to a field in Moxee in quotes 'In the middle of no where'," said Morrison.

A hops field in Moxee is where the victim says Edwin Nava and another man raped her then left her naked. She flagged down a car and made it back to Yakima.

There are several other witnesses expected to testify, and we have yet to hear from the accused, Edwin Nava. The trial is scheduled to be wrapped-up by Wednesday of this week.
