Wine convention brings 160 vendors to Toyota Center
KENNEWICK, Wash;-- A lot of lifting and moving for vendors at the Toyota Center today as they finish setting up for the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers annual convention which starts tomorrow and lasts until Friday. About 160 booths will showcase products and services for wineries.
"Just in the past 12 months we have shown with a number of our wines to be world class and people really need to experience that," Director of the event Vicky Scharlau said. "I think what you're going to see now is more traffic, more people coming over here and I think as an industry and really as a tourism industry we encourage people to do that."
As we continue to rise up the wine industry ladder, speakers at the convention say it's time for owners to focus on saving more water and energy at their wineries.
"Learning sustainable practices and energy has become really important," speaker Joy Andersen said. "We're trying to bring more of these kinds of opportunities to the Washington industry."
