EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - An Everett man accused of dipping an 18-month-old boy's feet into scalding water has pleaded guilty to second-degree assault of a child.
Zachary Wilson faces up to three years in jail when he's sentenced in Snohomish County Superior Court in early February.
Prosecutors say the boy's feet looked as if they had been painted red.
Wilson's explanation for the Aug. 22 incident has changed several times.
At first he told police the child had knocked over a pot of water. Later he said the boy was burned while taking a bath. Court papers say that when he was confronted by detectives, Wilson began to cry and acknowledged that he immersed the boy's feet in a pot of boiling water.
The child has been placed in foster care.
