Doctors at the Lourdes Kania Clinic in Pasco say the second wave of flu has passed and now illnesses such as Step Throat, Mononucleosis, and colds are taking hold.
One doctor at the clinic in Pasco explains how he is now seeing up to one-third of people who come in with soar throat complaints ultimately getting diagnoses with Strep.
"With the climate changes, the way things are going, we just went through a flu epidemic," Dr. Hector Gutierrez said. "I would say the potential is high to have more of an increase of Strep Throat rather than anything else."
To prevent Strep Throat doctors say don't drink from anyone some else's drinking cup, wash your hands frequently, and an interesting tip: when getting water from a drinking fountain wait several seconds before taking a sip.
