Sunnyside police searching for eluding suspect

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Sunnyside police are still looking for a man who led them on a dangerous high speed chase. Police are searching for 33-year old Augustine Jaime Avalos.

They say they tried to pull him over on for a routine traffic stop on October 29th on the 800 block of 4th Street, but Avalos sped off.

The 14.5 mile chase reached speeds of 110 miles per hour, on roads, through orchards and on gravel roads. It ended near North Lester Road. Both the driver and a passenger got out and ran.

The passenger, Ruben Roman, was caught and booked in the Sunnyside City Jail for an outstanding felony warrant and resisting arrest. Police have not found Avalos yet. If you have any information on his whereabouts please contact the Sunnyside Police Department at 509.836.6200.
