PASCO, Wash.-- A church in Pasco is reaching out to teens in the community who may not have a place to go.
Riverview United Methodist church has formed a group who call themselves the HouseRATS. That's short for Housing Research and Action Team.
They say their research about homeless teens in the Tri-Cities started about a year ago. One of the HouseRATS main goal is to create a shelter for homeless teens similar to the one in Spokane.
One of the group leaders says they're just getting started.
"We're trying to find a name you know what are we going to call it, where are we going to have it, who are we going to have for a board, what kind of board are we going to have, all these kinds of foundational questions," said Merrie Crawford, a HouseRAT advocate.
The HouseRATS visited the shelter in Spokane just a week ago. They're getting some help from other groups in the area, including the Vista Youth Center.
They say the Tri-Cities doesn't currently have an overnight shelter for homeless teenagers.
