PASCO, Wash.- This summer we've been interviewing the players on both Tri-City and Yakima, and the most sarcastic guy we've come across is Dust Devils backup second baseman Matt Sanders.
He is a 41st round draft pick out of Clemson, so we asked him if he had a tougher road to the big leagues than teammate Tim Wheeler who was a first round pick.
"Well he's better," deadpanned Sanders. "He was a first rounder so he's probably got the better odds because he's better. Other than the fact that he has more talent, I have as much of a shot as he does."
Next question: how long have you dreamed of playing professional baseball?
"A couple of weeks now," he said. "No, for a long time. As long as i can remember. I like saying that (I'm a pro). I like calling my brother up and say 'hey I'm a professional athlete' and hang up."
Sanders has appeared in eight of the teams 18 games so far and is batting 190.
