KENNEWICK, Wash. -- With oil prices now approaching $100 dollars per barrel, many people are looking at the alternative energy industry as a way to save money.
On Friday, the Three Rivers Synergy Group will give LED lights, which use less energy, at an alternative energy meeting at the Richland Maintenance Facility at Queensgate.
The meeting starts at 7. Products like the Solar Sterling Engine will be shown. The new engine is a more efficient and less costly way to make solar power.
Infinia Corp. produces the engine and is based in Kennewick. Information on other solar products like solar tube panels will also be shown.
Three Rivers Synergy Group's Robert Pritchett says, "My goal and maybe a lot of other people's goals isn't to be playing with the word green, but saving greens in our pockets."
Pritchett also showed me a solar backpack, which creates enough power for your MP3 player or cell phone.
He says that as the alternative energy industry continues to grow, people will not only save money but we will have less dependence on foreign oil.
