Kennewick, WA business owner buys Unlimited Light boat

It ran last year as the UL-14 Miss Critical Logic.  But the ULHRA reports the UL-14 has new owners and a new name for the 2007 season.

Greg and Lora Walden of Kennewick,WA, have purchased the UL-14 hull from Paul Becker.  Originally built in 1974, the UL-14 hull and Becker combined for a career best third place in the 2006 Unlimited Light Hydroplane National Championship. 

Becker recently acquired the former UL-110 hull that was previously raced by Carl & Randy Haas of Toledo OH. 

The UL-98 Miss Atomic Screen Printing will debut in 2007.  The Walden's plan their first year to be a learning experience and to compete on the west coast.  Eventually they hope to move up to ULHRA's new Thunderboats Series.  

Greg Walden says one of the incentives for them to enter the world of ULHRA racing as team owners was "we feel there needs to be team recognition in Tri Cities where boat racing is so popular".

While Greg Walden says "I would like to run the boat during Spring Training to see what it is like out there" he doesn't plan to be the race driver.  In fact, whom the race driver will be hasn't been decided, nor has the position of crew chief.

Walden and his wife own Atomic Screen Printing in Kennewick, which has provided much of the clothing and apparel for Water Follies volunteers and staff.
