PASCO, Wash.-- Middle and high school students learned about writing books from published authors Friday. Writers from all over the country came to the "Cavalcade of Authors" at the Pasco Red Lion Inn.
More than 200 students from Richland middle and high schools, as well as Kennewick High, had to reads books from some of the eight authors who were there to teach them. The eight authors were Royce Buckingham, Dia Calhoun, Patrick Carman, Brenda Cooper, Lorie Ann Grover, Ben Mikaelsen, Deborah Reber, and Suzanne Selfors.
Sierra Brines, 8th grader at Enterprise Middle School, says, "We learned different ways to get stories, so there's movies and books and radio and all kinds of cool stuff."
7th grader Jake Freeman says, "I learned that it takes time to create a book and also do a movie and that's what he does, and I think it's really cool."
This is the second year authors have come to the Tri-Cites for the Cavalcade. Last year, it started as just a school-wide event at Enterprise Middle, but was so successful other schools jumped on board and the event moved to the Red Lion.
