TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The Pierce County Council has named Mark Lindquist the county prosecutor. He has been the chief criminal deputy.
Lindquist was sworn in Tuesday to replace Gerald Horne, who is retiring after nine years.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reports Lindquist will have to run for election next year to keep the job. The prosecutor oversees a staff of 230 with a budget of about $26 million.
Lindquist pledged to fight to make sure the county gets only its fair share of state prisoners.
